How to Join
Seishinkai karate is a karate, iaido, and self-defense school focused on physical education, health, and self-defense. While many karate schools center on competitive sport, our training centers on fundamentals, kata, and yakusoku kumite — so anyone can take part comfortably, regardless of age or gender.
The children's division aims to instill courtesy (greetings, manners, etiquette) and to strengthen the mind and body during the crucial years of growth. For women, working adults, and seniors, the goals are fitness, improved stamina, health, and self-defense.
Unusually for Hokkaido, we are also active in international exchange: karate exchange students and overseas practitioners visit the headquarters dojo every year. With many working adults enrolled, there are plenty of opportunities to meet people from other fields and widen your circle of friends through Seishin-ryu karate. Many members train as parent and child — more than half of today's instructors and branch chiefs started that way. Online karate classes are also available.
We also offer self-defense seminars on-site for companies, schools, clubs, and other groups upon request.
Train at 80 Branches
Members may freely join practice, as often as they like, at the 80 headquarters-affiliated branches in and around Sapporo (excluding culture-school classes run by other organizations and small venues). A visitor ticket system is also available.
Free Trial Lessons
Direct-affiliated classes offer free trial lessons (culture-school classes are excluded as they are run by other organizations). ※ A heating fee applies in winter.
Office Hours
Phone reception is on weekdays, Monday to Friday, 1:00 PM–4:00 PM. Outside these hours and on weekends/holidays, please contact us by email. Please note we may be unable to answer during private lessons even within office hours.

Instruction at each dojo and branch is provided by working adult members volunteering their free time after work. As a certified non-profit organization, monthly membership fees go toward maintaining and running the organization — they are due even in months without practice. Conversely, the fee does not change however often you train, whether 10 or 20 times a month at direct branches (culture schools excluded).
Ticket-based membership (private classes, associate membership, etc.) and per-visit plans limited to your home branch are also available, so you can choose what suits your schedule (basic fees excluded).
